Class Procedures:

  • Lockers: I have high expectations for my students as I am essentially preparing them for high school.  Students need to be held accountable for their actions and decisions.  That being said, students will not be allowed to return to their locker when items are forgotten. They must come to class prepared or deal with the consequences.
  • Attendance: Attendance and students coming to class prepared is essential in my classroom.  Class will start when the bell rings and students are expected to follow our HMS P.R.I.D.E. values.
  • Absences:  If your child is absent, it is their responsibility to make up their work.  They have one day to make up their assignment(s) from the day they return.  All material will be posted in the designated folder for the day which can be located on my back board. It is the student’s responsibility to ask a “Homework Buddy” what they missed for the day. I will not “ask” students for their assignments
  • Late Work: Students have 1 day after an assignment is due to turn it into me for half credit.  After that 1 day has passed, I will not accept late work.
  • Assignments: Assignments are to be completed as directed:
    • Written in blue/black ink or pencil
    • Written on loose leaf paper and turned in with a clean edge
    • Must be legible
  • Cheating: Cheating, the attempt to cheat, or the appearance of cheating will be handled according to the CPS Student Code of Conduct.  Cheating will not be tolerated!  Copying of another’s homework is cheating, looking at or attempting to look at someone else’s paper is cheating, allowing someone to look at your work is cheating and attempting to sign your parents name is cheating.

Parents/Guardians

Parental involvement is a key component in your child’s success in school. I ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by monitoring their progress and attendance.  This can be done by monitoring students’ progress through Parent Portal.

Technology never ceases to amaze me!  I know life can get a bit hectic when kids start school and deadlines can become inundating.  I've been introduced to a text reminder application, Remind, that will allow me to periodically send out classroom and school reminders via text message to help take the burden of remembering off of you. Rest assured that you will not receive advertisement texts and your phone number will remain private.  You may choose to opt out at any time by messaging "stop" to the number provided. It is my hope that this will help strengthen the home-school connection. Attached you will find the directions as to how to sign up.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
